Max Ernst was a German artist with a background in psychology and literature who inspired a whole generation of artists throughout the 20th century and beyond. His experimental paintings, sculptures and poems made Ernst the pioneer of the Dada movement and Surrealism.
To me, he grasps the essence of creativity. I am a ferm believer that anyone can become more creative through proper training in using a series of tools and tricks . But pure creativity is also a mysterious talent to connect a multitude of subjects and parameters that seem to have no logical connection at all as Ernst perfectly captures in this quote: “Creativity is that marvelous capacity to grasp mutually distinct realities and draw a spark from their juxtaposition.”
